Emma Leckie
Counselling/psychotherapy is provided by Emma Leckie BA (Hons), MSc (Dist), MA Psychotherapy and Counselling. Emma is an Integrative Psychotherapist with a person-centred approach and utilises the benefits of Equine Facilitated Therapy, Animal Assisted Therapy and Art Therapy. She is a member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) (www.bacp.co.uk) and adheres to their code of ethics (www.bacp.co.uk/ethical_framework).
Emma’s life has been defined by her love of humans, horses and other animals. She works with people of all ages, but particularly enjoys working with adolescents and is experienced in counselling young people and adults suffering from anxiety, depression, self-harming, behavioural problems and the effects of bullying. She is currently working with groups rather than individual clients.
Emma is a Senior Practitioner of LEAP (Leading Equine Assisted Practices) (www.leapequine.com) and has worked as a lead coach for The Seeds of Change (www.theseedsofchange.co.uk) where she worked with young people who have been excluded from school using Equine Facilitated Learning. She then spent some time working for The Banbury Young Homelessness Project (BYHP) (www.byhp.org.uk) before deciding to take up private practice full time.
Live Love Be carries out full risk assessments on clients and all of the animals and activities to be undertaken. Professional and public liability insurance are in place, and all volunteers are trained appropriately for the work they are involved in and are DBS checked.
Group sessions are run by Emma and one or two volunteers and/or qualified professionals depending on the size and nature of the group.
